(v1.1.9) Abuild Construction WordPress Theme Free Download

Abuild Construction WordPress Theme

Just finished a project using the Abuild Construction theme and figured I’d share my notes since this one doesn’t get talked about much.

My client’s a small roofing contractor and they had their heart set on this specific theme after seeing an old demo. Spent a while hunting for the “official” source but eventually just grabbed it from one of those GPL marketplace sites for like eight bucks. Honestly? Was expecting a mess but it installed clean, no weird base64 code or anything sketchy that my scanner flagged.

Getting it running:

  • Standard WordPress upload, activated fine on 6.4
  • Demo importer worked in one go—pulled in all the project pages, service layouts, and the quote form
  • Built on Elementor, so tweaking colors and fonts was straightforward. Didn’t need to touch CSS for 90% of what the client wanted

What actually works well:

  • The project gallery is solid. Filterable, masonry layout, decent lightbox. Client uploaded 30+ job photos without issues
  • Service page templates have enough block options to mix things up without looking samey
  • Quote form hooks right into Contact Form 7 and looks presentable out of the box
  • Mobile menus actually collapse properly (you’d be surprised how many themes screw this up)

The headaches:

  • Documentation is basically a two-page PDF. Had to figure out the header builder by trial and error
  • A few dummy images in the demo are just grey placeholders, but whatever, you’re replacing those anyway
  • Update situation is murky. GPL site says lifetime updates, but who knows if they’ll actually keep up with WP versions

Performance-wise, it’s not lightning fast but loads in under 3 seconds on decent hosting. No major bloat.

If you’re a freelancer building a site for a tradesman who needs a portfolio and a contact form, this gets the job done without a bunch of custom dev. Just test it on staging first like any theme and run a security scan if you’re grabbing it from a third-party spot.

Anyone else running this long-term? Curious how it holds up after a few WordPress updates.
